WELL done to Tom Grimes who picked up his award for September’s Sports Star of the Month and to the Glen Emmets’ Junior champions on their nomination for Team of the Year. Tom also picked up ‘Best Dressed Male’ at the awards on Saturday night! Next stop the catwalk!

Club Registrati­on takes place on Sunday morning February 4th and 18th from 10am to noon. Due to the outstandin­g contributi­on from the community in our New Year’s Grand Prize Draw, our registrati­on fees for 2018 will not increase.

The presentati­on of Junior Championsh­ip medals and Dinner Dance takes place in the Glenside Hotel on Saturday March 10th. Tickets are €30 and are available from committee members.

The Féile Peile na nÓg 2018 (Down, Louth, and Meath) tournament will be played on June 29th, 30th and July 1st and we are delighted to be a host club. Let’s make this a huge success for our club and county!

Numbers drawn in last week’s lotto were 3, 4, 11, 13 and the lucky dip winners of €25 were Thomas Moroney, Ciaran Hilliard, Night Fever Syndicate and Ann Campbell. The jackpot for the draw this Tuesday night in The Morning Star, Tullyallen, stands at €3,600.

Congratula­tions to Paddy Meade who will be coaching our Ladies team this year. We wish Paddy, his coaching team and the ladies team the very best for the upcoming season.

Our U 14 boys and girls teams will participat­e in Féile Peile Na nÓg competitio­n on June 29th, 30th and July 1st. Host families are still needed to provide accommodat­ion for teams travelling to the competitio­n, you do not need to have a child involved in the Féile to provide accommodat­ion, if you can help out in any way please contact Anne-Marie Martin.

Bingo takes place every Friday night in the Ardee Parish Centre from 8pm. There are some great cash prizes to be won on the night including the winner takes all flyer. Next weeks jackpot is €4,100.

Lotto numbers from 14th January were 10, 12, 16, 28. The jackpot wasn’t won and rises to €9,100. Naomh Fionnbarra’s Last man Standing competitio­n for the 2018 National Football League season started over the weekend. There were 208 entries and after wins for Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Galway, Down and Tipperary 102 entrants made it through to Round 2 which is on next week. Thanks to everyone who entered. well done to those who made it through and hard luck to those who were knocked out.

Hard luck to our own William Woods who lined out at corner forward v Down on Sunday in the first Round of the league as they were beaten 1-14(17) to 0-11(11). William had a good game and scored 0-5, 4 from frees as well as providing an assist for a Tommy Durnin point. Well done William.

The Naomh Fionnbarra intermedia­te men are continuing S&C traing in preparatio­n for the season ahead. Any players over 17 years of age are welcome and training is on Monday and Friday nights at the moment. Intermedia­te selectors have been confirmed to work alongside team manager Paddy White, they are Gerry Leonard, Sean McGrane and Neil Hand. Div 4 selectors to be appointed at a later date.

2018 season is off to a great start for the Naomh Fionnbarra Ladies team. Manager Mark McArdle along with Niall Campbell and Andrew Rodgers are welcoming new players to join the panel.Training is on Tuesday nights from 8:30-9:30pm in Walshestow­n and bootcamp in Dunleer on Thursdays from 8-9pm. Club Barrs will run for the next three years to help with the developmen­t of John Markey Park which will benefit the whole community.

NEWTOWN BLUES

F0LKS, as you are probably all aware we won the Louth Senior Championsh­ip in 2017 for the 21st time and our Under-21s won their championsh­ip, so we thought it fitting to highlight this magic number!

For our annual dinner dance that takes place on Friday March 16th we are using “GO BLUE” and “21” as our theme for the night, but we need your help. We are looking for all young members to design our dinner dance ticket for the event, using this theme for inspiratio­n.

The winner will receive a year’s juvenile membership and this is open to all under-16s. Entries must be received by February 9th and the winner will be announced by the 16th. Get those creative ideas working and good luck everyone!

Don’t forget that the Astro Pella continues each Wednesday in St Joseph’s Secondary School - times as follows: 6pm-6.45pm Boys & girls 7-10yrs, 6.45pm7.30pm Boys & Girls 11-12yrs. The cost is €3 per person - all welcome.

Ardee St Mary’s are 90 years old this year and we are celebratin­g by holding a Black Tie Ball on Saturday March 3rd in the Newgrange Hotel in Navan. Tickets for the event are €50 person and will include a bus from Ardee to the venue and return, sparkling wine on arrival and a fabulous four-course meal, followed by music by The Madisons and dj to follow. We will be honouring the League and Championsh­ip winning minor team on the night. The dress code is black tie (men) and formal dress for women.

NUMBERS drawn in last Tuesday’s lotto were 1, 6, 10, 20 and there was one match-three winner of €150, Jean Buckley (Ballsgrove). This week’s jackpot stands at €6,380.

Adult training is on this Wednesday at 7.30 in the St Oliver’s gym. There will also be training on Sunday morning at a venue to be confirmed. Aiden and his selectors held a very positive players meeting on Saturday in the clubhouse. All adult players new are old welcome to attend training.

U-16 and Minor training will return to the pitch at 7.30 tonight (Tuesday) and Girls U-12 and U-14 Pella will continue at 8 in St Mary’s Diocesan.

Our Juvenile registrati­on day will take place on Saturday morning from 11am to 1pm and registrati­on prices are as follows: Adult Player €120; Juvenile Player €90 (first child), €70 (second child), €50 (third child); Committee €30, Walkway €20. Operation Transforma­tion Ireland lights up, will continue in the pitch next Monday evening and has already been very successful. Please take note that this walk doesn’t take place on the pitch itself - there is a walkway around the perimeter of the grounds which is safe and dry to walk on.
