All garda leave cancelled for week of the Fleadh
MEETINGS are ongoing to make sure the 2018 Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann will be one of the best ever.
Some concerns were raised about ‘ lack of information’ in relation to the Fleadh at the Policing meeting, but Supt Andrew Watters said the preparations were in operation.
‘We’ve been to Ennis and spoke with the organisers there. The traffic management plan will be huge and we will have to have an analysis of traffic flows and have have a number of locations earmarked for park and ride. Provisional sites have been identified and our job, over the eight days, will be to make sure people get in and out.
‘ There will be restrictions in town and lorry deliveries must be done by 10am. We have met the publicans in relation to the management of alcohol and we are going to talk to off licences.’
Chief Supt Mangan (pictured) said that all garda leave in Louth had been cancelled for that week - causing some issues with some members - as one was getting married!
‘ The Fleadh is on our agenda each day, we have a sergeant and two gardai on it and we’ll get the plan out there.’
