Progress made to provide Wifi access in Lourdes Hospital

-

A Wifi access project is currently being considered by management at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, it has been revealed.

It is understood the hospital is currently accessing the costs involved and the current ICT capability.

Senator Ged Nash has called for free Wifi access to be provided to all patients and visitors to the hospital.

He told the Drogheda Independent this week that he has made representations to the hospital and the HSE has confirmed that the Wifi access project is currently being considered by management.

He explained: ‘I am frequently contacted by people on this issue. While those who have been and are being cared for as inpatients in our hospital have nothing but praise for the care and attention they receive from dedicated staff, the absence of Wifi access is a constant bugbear.

‘While there are certainly bigger issues to deal with in our health service in terms of waiting lists and an ongoing shortage of beds, the provision of free access to Wifi during a hospital stay or indeed while waiting in outpatients or indeed in ED can contribute greatly to the comfort of someone’s stay in hospital.’

He said the hospital has acknowledged this and are currently looking at the costs involved and the ICT capability.
