McPhail’s comedy club opens in great style

IRELAND’S newest comedy club ‘ The Laughing Stock Lounge’ kicked off on Thursday in McPhail’s Bar, Drogheda.

Seasoned comedians such as Simon O’Keeffe and Therese Cahill along with up and coming acts including local woman Kelly Kierans satisfied the laughter appetite of the many locals to came to enjoy the first of many nights of comedy in McPhails.

“This was the first of what will be a monthly event” said Kelly Kierans who organised the event with her cousin and local funny man Micháel Kierans. The pair were part of the team who organised the hugely successful ‘Laugh out Louth’ festival at the end of 2017.

“We put the comedy night on as not only is there a need for it but we love comedy and wanted an outlet for it, especially for locals to enjoy”, said Micháel who was also compére on the opening night. “We were blown away by the fantastic attendances at Laugh out Louth so staging a regular event seemed the next logical step. We’ll be bringing the best of Ireland’s comedians to perform here. We plan to run themed comedy nights and workshops too” he added.

The event will take place on the first Thursday of each month with next month’s event happening on March 1st.
