Hamilton in celebrator­y mood after Trim-ming her PB

In the Women’s 800m Orla O’Connor delivered a top-class DULEEK & District AC’s Anne Hamilton went home on a high after running a five-minute PB in Saturday’s Trim 10Mile Road Race.

The heritage town of Trim was alive run to record a new indoor PB of 2:17:90, and a short while later she ran a terrific 400m in 1:01:07 which is great running given the tight bends on this track.

Kieran McGrath went so close to breaking the two-minute mark in his 800m race when running 2:00:60. with runners for the inaugural event and the 10 miles is a popular distance for those who favour the endurance running.

Darragh Sculley was the first Duleek

McGrath, who’s well over six feet tall and is not best suited to indoor racing, coped well with the tight bends and will go below two minutes when he’s racing outdoors.

Hugh Callan, who specialise­s in the 400m, has wintered well and his sparkling new indoor PB & District athlete to cross the line in a speedy time of 73:51, Graham Byrne ran a fast 83:38 and the winter training is clearly paying off for Paddy Lennon also. of 54:63 shows that he’s in great early-season form.

Marathon man Gerard Fay moved down in distance last Wednesday when he ran the threemile race in the Raheny Winter League. Conditions on the night weren’t good for fast running, but neverthele­ss Fay ran a solid 23:24

Among the other ladies, Karen Creed and Celena Tierney had a nail-biting finish and Olive Wall is one to watch on the racing front for the season ahead after a steady block of training. for the distance.

With so many of our members taking to the roads, just two of D&D’s finest took to the hilly fields of Oldbridge for the weekly parkrun on Saturday. Regular competitor Seamus Roe was 28th in 26:48 and Rose Dalton was 62nd in 41:06.
