Great time at CU quiz night

-

WHAT a night it was in DIFE, Drogheda as almost 20 local schools from Drogheda, Bettystown & Trim participated in the first stage of the nationwide 2018 Credit Union School’s Quiz competition held by Drogheda Credit Union Ltd.

Exciting is not the word, with the hall of DIFE packed with 122 extremely energetic, excited children. The talent every year continues to be incredible with children from as young as the age of eight flying their way through questions in each round that Quiz Master Declan Collins was calling out.

“It is so wonderful to see how gifted and talented all these children are that have participated here with us tonight” commented Credit Union Chairperson Geraldine Gilsenan. “Following our merge over the last few years with Trim and East Meath, it is great to see so many schools participating and so eager to compete in our Annual Schools Quiz.”

In competition A, Realt Na Mara Boys from Donacarney in Co. Meath certainly came in fighting form in hope to take the lead and take the first place title home with them. After 10 tough rounds of general knowledge questions and a close gap between Whitecross N.S, they managed to take home 1st place. Just missing out on to top spot, Whitecross N.S took home 2nd place and with a very tight number between scores we had three third place winners; St Joseph’s C.B.S, St. Mary’s Parish Primary & Robinstown N.S Trim.

In competition B it was equally intense and the score board was again very close. We saw Realt na Mara BNS and Le Cheile Educate Together go head to head in two tie breaker rounds where Realt Na Mara took 1st place and Le Cheile Educate Together took 2nd place. With an extremely close competition we had St Mary’s Parish Primary and Realt na Mara Girls taking home third place.

A massive Congratulations to Realt Na Mara Boys for wining 1st place in both Competition A & Competition B.
