-

LOCAL woman Niamh White (22) fulfilled a lifelong dream recently when she attended the American Grammy Music Awards.

Niamh, from Rathkenny described her night at the 60th annual awards held in Madison Square Garden as ‘ the best night of my life’.

‘I can’t even say it was a dream come true, because I literally never even dreamed that this would ever happen,’ she said.

Niamh is currently living in New York where she works for Jazz PR agency Lydia Liebman Promotions.

One of the bands she works closely with is husband and wife duo The Baylor Project and at the end of last year they received the news that they had been nominated for two grammy awards – Best Jazz Vocal Album for their debut ‘ The Journey’ and Best Traditional R&B performance for their single ‘Laugh and Move On’.

Lydia first moved to New York on a summer work visa back in 2016 and through connections she made through jamming with Beyonce’s tour band she managed to secure a position with publicist Lydia Liebman.

Her ticket for the Grammys came as a last minute surprise just days before the function and Niamh was over the moon to have the opportunity to attend such a prestigious musical event.

In a heartfelt Facebook post Niamh said: ‘Jean & Marcus Baylor I have loved working with you guys so much and all I can say is, you have no idea how happy you’ve made a 22 year old girl from Ireland.’
