IBTS say thanks to all the Duleek donors for turning out

THE Irish Blood Transfusio­n Service would like to thank all 69 Donors who attended the recently held clinic in Duleek Boys National School, Duleek. A breakdown of the total figure shows that 12 first time donors and 3 former donors attended the clinic. It is essential that they maintain and increase the level of support on their next visit to Duleek.

A special thank you to the Board of Management in both Duleek Boys National School and Duleek Girls National School who facilitate­d them. Also thank you to local voluntary organiser Barbara Flaherty for her help and support in promoting the clinic.

About 70,000 patients are transfused with blood each year in Irish Hospitals. To do this they must collect approximat­ely 3,000 donations of blood each and every week from voluntary donors A total of 2,711 units alone were required in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda during 2017

Duleek and District AC will host a 5k road race on Sunday 25th of February starting from Duleek Business Park. This is an AA1 registered event with 1st, 2nd and 3rd category and team prizes. Entry fee 15euro. Free Tee shirt for the first 100 registered . Register on line www.myrunresul­ts.com

Funds were raised at a recent Navan Road Club annual 24-hour roller cycle event which took place at Foleys Arch in the town. The ARC centre cares for people with cancer, their families and friends regardless of where they live and the service is free of charge. Since 2004, Navan Club Members have raised over €200,000 for the ARC centre through their cycling activities.
