Exposed himselfto woman

-

A man who exposed himself to a woman as she sat in a car, has been sentenced to five months jail on an assault charge.

The judge remarked it was ‘absolutely disgraceful behaviour’ by Richard Feehan (26).

The accused, of Newfield, Drogheda, pleaded guilty to charges of assault, engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour, and attempted unauthorised interference with a car, at John’s Shop, Platin Road, on 27 August, 2016.

Sgt Ray Brady gave evidence that a young lady was sitting in a car which had broken down.

Feehan tried to open the passenger door.

He then pulled his trousers down, baring his rear at the window, before going to the front of the car, and ‘producing himself, and waving it’.

Solicitor Siobhán Murphy said the defendant had lost his sister by suicide, and went on the drink at this time. She suggested the court seek a psychiatric report.

However, Judge Coughlan refused, noting this occurred a year-and-half ago.

A five-month sentence was imposed for assault, and the other charges were taken into account.

Bail in the event of an appeal was set at €300 cash.
