Oud but frustrated

-

and a lot of chances from play that should have been converted which cost us dearly. Even at the end there we hit a shot straight into the keeper’s hands which had it have gone over would have sealed victory for us. We failed to capitalise on the fact that they had two players sent off and that’s what is disappointing about our performance.

‘In saying all that they have some very good hurlers and they started the game really well. They hurled us out of it in the first ten minutes and we were struggling early on. But we managed to get to grips with them as the half went on and we came back strongly to go ahead going in at half time.

‘That pleased me because they fought hard to get themselves back into the game when things weren’t going well for them early on.

‘The problem for me was that we never really put daylight between ourselves and Warwickshire during our purple patch in the second half. We dominated them for a good ten-minute spell in the second-half but we only outscored them four to two or something like that.

‘I thought our finishing was particularly poor during that spell. I thought we didn’t take their defenders on and go for goals when we had numbers attacking. In saying that conditions weren’t the best out there and lads were slipping a lot which wasn’t ideal. So with all that in mind yes, you’d have to say that’s a point dropped out there today.

‘However, it is another game unbeaten and I can definitely see that we are going in the right direction. A few weeks ago people were saying Louth hurling was in the gutter after Roscommon gave us a bit of a drubbing but we’ve changed that and we’ve beaten Tyrone and drawn with the league leaders here today.

‘We go to Longford next week and it will be all hands on deck to keep the run going,’ stated Philip.
