WEEK 3 of the MacBride Winter League took place last last weekend, and once again there was a wonderful turnout.

The Grade 1 winner was Jimmy Flood who with a score of 42 nett (h/c -5). Grade 2 was won by John Donnelly, also with a score of 42 nett (h/c -9).

Week 4 of the League is an 18 gross competitio­n - times of play Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

In last week’s club lotto the winning numbers were 2, 3, 19 & 23 and the lucky dip winners were David Moran, Mark Tuite and Robert Doyle jnr. Next Tuesday’s jackpot will be €2,850.

MANNAN CASTLE

NOT happy with winning week four, John Hanratty (17) took week six with 31 points, giving him backto-back wins in the spring league, tightening his grip on the title.

Eddie Rouiller (17) was second with 31 points and Michael O’Rourke (12) in third place with 30. The happiest man at Mannan Castle was John Malone who aced the 10th, his first hole in one after 17 years of playing the sport.

Week five was cancelled because of inclement weather on the Sunday.

Tommy Hoey (18) won the Saturday 10th February competitio­n with a fantastic score of 33 points.

This coming weekend is the last in the spring league, so there is still a chance to make an impression on the leaderboar­d.

RESULT from Saturday’s Meath County Board Spring Alliance Scramble held in Stackallen:

36 nett - John Farnan (Skryne), Alan O’Brien (Skryne) & Kevin Carolan (Rathfeigh); 36 gross - Esther Andrews (Laytown), Danny Fitzpatric­k (Navan) and Jonathan McCabe (Navan).

This Saturday’s scramble will take place in Bellewstow­n at 10.15am.

Senior - 1st Gerry Breen jnr 44 (21½), 2nd Johnny Campbell snr 44 (ob6 14 ); Inter - 1st Anto Mullen 39, 2nd Colin Campbell 42; Junior - 1st John Kelleher 41 (ob9 18½), 2nd Declan Murphy (ob9 19½); Ladies - 1st Joanne Cooney 43 (ob9 18½), 2nd Mary Coyle 43 (ob9 21).

Briscoe Expert Electrical Winter League week five: Five points go to Team 4 (Mary Agnew, Cepta Maddick, Declan Murphy & Barbara Murphy) who had a score of -32; and the three points are awarded to Team 7 (Darren McKenna, Kieran Smith, Paul Cooney & Joanne Cooney) thanks to their score of -27.

This is the final week of the Winter League and it will be an 18 gross - times of play Friday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 9.30am and 2pm.

On Saturday March 3rd our two Captains for 2018, Joanne and Paul Cooney, will host the annual Captains’ Pitch-in. Also on the day will be the presentati­on of the Winter League, kindly sponsored by Briscoe Expert Electrical, with more details to follow next week.
