‘Don’t waste €300,000 already spent on bypass’
MEATH County Council are to update councillors in a response to an emergency motion about the prospect of securing funding in the Capital Plan for Duleek Bypass.
Cllrs Sharon Keogan and Stephen McKee delivered a united message at last week’s area council meeting, calling for funding to be made available to forward the project.
‘ The route has been selected and €300,000 spent on it and we don’t want that money wasted,’ Cllr Keogan stated.
She called for funding for a full design and a topographical survey, preparing it for a Part 8 planning application.
‘We need to get it back on the agenda. Maybe we haven’t been active enough,’ she added.
Cllr McKee said it needed to be to the forefront as it was a long term solution to the traffic issues in the village.
The motion called for the council to secure funding in the capital investment fund for design consultants for ther project.
Director of Services Fiona Lawless said they would respond to the request at the next area meeting and a history of the plan would be provided.
