Dromiskin Tidy Towns table quiz

-

Love was in the air at the Valentine’s themed Table Quiz organised by Dromiskin Tidy Towns to raise much needed funds to continue the work programme which has transformed the environmental presentation of the village over the last number of years.

The Joe’s Clubroom was packed to capacity when a record thirty one teams turned up to compete in the general knowledge quiz which had a hint of romance in each round to get everybody in to an early Valentine’s mood.

Quizmaster Henry Murtagh ensured the event ran smoothly while Chairman of Dromiskin Tidy Towns, Pat Mulligan thanked the local community for turning out in such huge numbers as well as highlighting the fact that teams from tidy towns colleagues in Blackrock, Castlebellingham, Grange and Omeath made the journey to support the event as did staff members of Louth County Council ensuring that a great atmosphere and friendly competitive spirit prevailed.

Emerging victorious on the night was the topically named foursome Broadband or Bust a team of quizzers from Knockbridge and Dundalk while the local team Last of the Grid Ladies came second after a tie breaker with equally high scoring Fine Margins from Dundalk.

Well done too to Trump for Taoiseach who won Best Team Name on the night! The success of the event provided a huge financial boost for the work of the committee and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the generous raffle sponsors including Louth County Council, Country Fresh, Hallinans Centra, Mulligans, Tig Hig, Monasterboice Inn, Edge Hair Salon, Joe McCann, Dr Flanagan, Dromiskin Pharmacy and Cllr Liam Reilly. Evening work sessions will recommence shortly when longer daylight hours enable safe work sessions and the community is looking forward to another successful year in the National Tidy Towns Competition.
