Gardai hunt attacker who stabbed man in the head

INVESTIGAT­IONS are ongoing into a stabbing incident at the Glen in Yellowbatt­er that left a man with a number of wounds, including one to the head.

He was also stabbed in the lower back and the legs with reports that a number of people were involved.

The incident took place around 9pm and the victim managed to leave the scene before an ambulance was called to bring him to hospital.

The man suffered what is described as a ‘very serious lacaration’ to the head in the incident.

Gardai attended the scene on Thursday and on Friday morning it remained sealed off for a number of hours for a detailed technical examinatio­n.

Superinten­dent Andrew Watters confirmed that gardai were investigat­ing the circumstan­ces surroundin­g the attack and is appealing for members of the local community to come forward in a bid to bring those responsibl­e to justice.

‘We are asking people who were in the area of the Glen between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Thursday night to come forward to us with any informatio­n they may have,’ he stated.
