Meath doing all possible on Dublin Road path - now it’s up to Louth to do its bit

- By HUBERT MURPHY

THE issue about creating a footpath from Deepforde to Five Oaks will not be going away anytime soon, a local councillor has stated.

Addressing the recent area council meeting in Duleek, Stephen McKee said that he would not be ‘ letting the issue go’ as residents had been in touch with him over it.

The location is on the border, but the key part of the new pathway is in Louth. Officials there have said they have no funding for it.

‘ The path will also serve people in Five Oaks who go to Grange Rath,’ he claimed.

Director of Services Des Foley said the matter had ‘received certain media attention’ and Meath were in talks with Louth over it.

Cllr McKee said Meath were doing all they can and it this was ‘putting it up to Louth now’.
