Retail event ahead of Fleadh Cheoil

WITH Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann coming to Drogheda in August, many retailers are wondering how best to prepare for this mammoth event.

‘We’re proud to host this special event focused on how local retailers and SMEs can get ready for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann,’ said Head of Enterpirse in Louth, Thomas McEvoy.

‘With over 350,000 visitors expected in just one week, it is the biggest event to ever take place in Drogheda. It’s crucial to ensure that local retailers understand the event and the audience, identify the opportunit­ies and collaborat­e to make the best of out this event.’

Staged in conjunctio­n with Drogheda Chamber, Ennis Chamber and Retail Excellence Ireland this free event is a must for anyone in the retail sector. It takes place in The Highlanes Gallery on Monday, March 5th from 12pm-2.30pm and pre-booking is essential.

The event is hosted by Local Enterprise Office, part of Louth County Council.

Jean McCabe, a retailer and Past President of Ennis Chamber will explain what it’s like to have the Fleadh arrive in town. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann took place in Ennis in 2016 and 2017 so Jean will speak from experience. She will outline what to expect, how to connect with the Fleadh audience and the importance of collaborat­ion. Retail guru Keith Harford will then facilitate an interactiv­e workshop focusing on exploring creative ways to connect with visitors and drive sales. He will challenge retailers to consider ways to collaborat­e and cross promote to help all local companies get the best from the Fleadh. He will also examine ideas on how Drogheda maximise the long term impact of the Fleadh for both locals and return visitors.
