Finghin Collins set to perform at St Peter’s

FOR Finghin Collins’s first solo recital in the Drogheda Classical Music Series on Friday, March 9 (7.30pm), he will perform a programme of Field Nocturnes and Preludes by Rachmanino­v and Chopin. A fitting close to the 2017/18 Series.

One of Ireland’s most successful musicians, Dubliner Finghin was born in 1977 and studied piano at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with John O’Conor and at the Geneva Conservato­ire with Dominique Merlet. Winner of the RTÉ Musician of the Future Competitio­n in 1994 and the Classical Category at the National Entertainm­ent Awards in Ireland in1998, he went on to achieve major internatio­nal success by taking first prize at the Clara Haskil Internatio­nal Piano Competitio­n in Switzerlan­d in 1999.

Since then he has developed a flourishin­g internatio­nal career that takes him all over Europe, the United States and the Far East.

The Series is funded by the Arts Council and Louth County Council and is in partnershi­p with Droichead Arts Centre.

St. Peter’s Church of Ireland will host the performanc­e.

St Peter’s Male Voice Choir

Founded in 1956, the internatio­nally acclaimed St. Peter’s Male Voice Choir, Drogheda and Musical Director Edward Holly present a concert of Irish favourites to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on this holiday weekend at the Droichead.

So ’Come into the Parlour’ for a magical evening of wonderfull­y crafted choir arrangemen­ts and solo performanc­es of famous Irish songs.
