Hazel spreading her artwork to St Ollie’s students

-

Hazel Egan was Artist-in-Residence in October 2017 as part of the Creative Spark Residency Programme, Dundalk which is generously supported by Louth Local Authorities Art Service as a means of supporting the development of visual artists in the region.

Hazel graduated from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2014 with a First Class Honours BA in Printmaking and Contemporary Practice. Since finishing college she has been working to develop her practice as a visual artist, and she has exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2015 she attended a week long masterclass in Ballinglen Arts Foundation with the Dutch artist Arno Kramer. There she focused on contemporary drawing. Later in the year she was awarded the emerging Irish Artist Residency Award by the Burren College of Art and the 126 Gallery. She also won the F15 & AIB People’s Choice Award at the Foundation 15 Arts Festival in Tullamore and recently received a prize at Impressions Book Art 2016 exhibition in Galway.

During her time at Creative Spark, Hazel has been developing a new body of work. As part of her residency she recently gave a workshop to students from St. Oliver’s Community College, Drogheda. Hazel gave a bookmaking and mono-print workshop to students and their art teacher Kieran Gallagher at our fully equipped 24 hour access printmaking studio. More information: www.creativespark.ie
