Talking point...

-

ON the same weekend as Congress, the old black card chestnut continued to provide ammunition to its many detractors. It’s the utter inconsistency of it all that annoys players, managers and supporters. Louth lost William Woods after he pulled down a Roscommon player when Louth were trailing by four points and some 100 metres from the Louth goal. Yet in the second half both sides had players booked for dragging down opponents in far more ‘cynical’ circumstances. Punishing cynical play is laudable, but too often common sense goes out the window.
