THE indoor season is well and truly in full swing and Boyne AC’s senior athlete Amy McTeggart continued her excellent season with second place in the long jump at the star-studded AIT International Grand Prix in Athlone.

The Drogheda lady, who is a student at AIT, recorded two 5.51m efforts to finish second in the Midlands Print long jump competition, with victory going to Sarah McCarthy (5.62m).

And then it was onto the Leinster Indoor Championships in Abbotstown last weekend, where McTeggart topped the podium with gold in the Senior ladies long jump and high jump and also finished second in the shot putt with a personal best of 10.00m.

Sally Clarke contested the Masters Ladies 800m, finishing in a creditable fourth place in her category, while in the Junior Ladies 800m Eva Cummins ran well to finish in seventh place.

Sunday saw the Leinster Relays take place in a packed-to-capacity arena. These events always make for great excitement and thrills, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.
