Fr Pat is returning to Nigeria

-

LEAVING Drogheda soon to return to his missionary work in Nigeria, is Fr. Pat Corcoran of St. Mary’s Villas. Fr. Pat, who is Rector of a Junior Seminary in Calabar and parish priest of the parish that surrounds it, has been home in his native Drogheda for the past few months attending a course on ‘Faith and Mission’ renewal, in Dealgan Park.

While here, he has helped out with parish work in St. Mary’s and in Holy Family Church. He was particularly pleased to be present for the ordination, in St. Mary’s of Fr. Eamonn Sheridan. The first priest to be ordained from St. Mary’s parish since the ordination, in 1972, of Fr. Pat’s brother, Fr. Brian Corcoran. While vocations are scarce here in Ireland, Fr. Pat is pleased to report that things are in a much healthier state in Africa.

Earlier this month Fr. Pat was delighted with the gift of £1,000 given to him by the Drogheda Cares at Christmas Group. This will enable him to put a roof over two small community halls which have lain idle for some years.
