James Walsh is a Feis winner

AN 18-year-old Drogheda man has won a major prize at the annual Feis Ceoil held in Sligo.

James Walsh, Trinity Gardens, a son of Tommy and Breda Walsh, won the gold medal in the senior brass competitio­n. James plays the euphonium as a member of the Army School of Music. He has been a member of Drogheda Brass Band since 1981 and played in many competitio­ns as a member of the band. James joined the Army School of Music in October 1986 and is based in Dublin. His brother, Brendan, and cousins Anthony, Brian and Catherine Murphy, are also members of the Drogheda band.
