Locals sought for music documentary
LOCALS with a passion for and knowledge of traditional music in the Drogheda area are being sought to take part in a new documentary.
SkyHigh Productions is producing a Documentary exploring Drogheda’s history of traditional Irish Music down through the ages and its strong connections to the community and special people like Willy Clancy and others alike.
We are reaching out to the town’s people to get involved, if your Mum or Dad, Granny or Granddad, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins or Siblings have strong connections through the ages to Traditional Irish Music, we would like to hear from you to be interviewed for the documentary.
Do you have a strong emotional connection to Trad music? Does your family have strong ties to the Trad Music community? Are you an ‘Appreciator’ of a tune, jig and reel but can’t play yourself, but love the sound? We would particularly like to hear from those that have family heirlooms in the home such as instruments played by Grandparents and Great Grandparents, photos of events and clubs that took place in and around Drogheda and its environs and anyone involved in the current Traditional Music circle – either playing or teaching.
When people think of Drogheda, they don’t necessarily connect our wonderful town with Traditional Irish music, except say for the Sessions held in Teach Ní Cairbre, but there is a strong and vibrant community of Trad Players and Appreciators in our town, and we do have a strong history of supporting, promoting and engaging in Traditional Irish Culture, Music, Sean-Nós, Dance and Poetry.
Our documentary aims to showcase our local links to the rich heritage that is so unique to our Irish Identity.
It’s not important that you yourself play; we are interested in speaking with people whose family members played and those that would like to share their memories of loved ones and friends that played & play. Share with us that special connection and share a sense of pride in Drogheda’s Traditional Music Heritage.
To be considered as an interviewee for the documentary, please visit www.shpcreativemedia.com/tradoc.htm and fill in the form by the closing date of March 16th. Successful applicants will be contacted.
