NH MAIRTIN O RAGHALLAIGHS 2-16 2-8

NH Mairtin moved top of Group B of the Paddy Sheelan Cup when the overcame the challenge of O Raghallaighs at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

The home side went into the game looking to get off the mark for the season but were unable to match their opponents who always looked to have the upper hand over the hour.

The O Raghallaighs did find the net in the first half through Barry Flanagan but it wasn’t enough to put them in command as a goal from Brian McQuillan ensured that the Mairtins went in at the break with a 1-9 to 1-4 advantage.

The second period followed a similar pattern with the Drogheda men battling to get back into the game, but the visitors were always able to keep them at arm’s length.

Sub Mark McCullough grabbed a second goal for the Monasterboice outfit to seal the victory despite the fact that the O Raghallaighs grabbed a second for themselves through Olan Walsh.
