Rovers in total control
HUNTERSTOWN ROVERS OLIVER PLUNKETTS 3-13 0-3
HUNTERSTOWN Rovers enjoyed their first win of the season when they proved too strong for Oliver Plunketts on Saturday night in Darver.
After suffering a heavy defeat in their opening game, the Plunketts went into this Group D clash hoping for better luck. However, once again little went their way as Hunterstown were rarely troubled on the night.
Rovers got off to a flying start as Robbie Brennan crashed the ball to the net after seven minutes. The same player added a second in the 20th minute to put his team in total control. With Brendan Lennon, Glen Matthews and Ryan Ward among the point scores, Hunterstown were leading by 2-8 to 0-2 at half time.
Despite their best endeavours, the Plunketts could make little impression on the scoreboard as they added just one point to their tally. At the other end, Hunterstown continued to chalk up the scores and they capped a win on 54 minutes when Alan Landy fired in the third goal of the night.
