Schools can be part of run

THE Special Olympics Ireland Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) are inviting primary schools across Co. Louth to get involved and be in with the chance of winning a visit from the Flame of Hope and its fanfare of athletes, ambassadors and media.

The Torch Run is a key fundraising event which raises funds and awareness for the Special Olympic Ireland Games. These Games offer an opportunity for athletes of all ages to reach their full sporting potential and become part of a growing community in the process.

The Ireland Games take place from the 14th – 17th June 2018 and will see 1,600 athletes from all over Ireland come to Dublin, to compete in 14 sports from football and swimming to gymnastics and bowling.

Schools have the opportunity to win a visit from the Law Enforcement Torch Run as it travels the country before attending the Opening Ceremony on Thursday 14th June.

By fundraising a minimum of €250 before the deadline of 30th March, schools can show their support for the Games and also help spread the important message of acceptance and inclusion in their classrooms.

Some fundraising ideas schools might consider include an Easter egg raffle, a non-uniform day, a sports day or a sponsored walk.
