Third time lucky for Lannleire with Dowdallshi­ll success

LANNLEIRE made it third time lucky as they picked up their first win of the 2018 season with victory over Dowdallshi­ll on Tuesday night.

The Dunleer men went into the clash at Darver having lost their opening two games in the Mullen Shield but a good all-round team effort saw them clinch a first victory.

Most of the damage was done in the first half as Lannleire got on top from the early exchanges and with Colin Murphy and Alan Murphy in good scoring form they went in at the break leading by 0-10 to 0-1.

Dowdallshi­ll battled throughout but enjoyed little success in front of the posts and their only score of the half came from Kevin Kirk.

The Dundalk men raised their game in the second period and saw scores from Kirk and sub Gerry McShane bring their total to seven points. However, Lannleire were never seriously troubled as they went on to win by eight points.
