-

MEATH County Council intends to temporarily close the R150, Eastham Road, Bettystown, from its junction with the L5615, Pilltown Road at Betaghstown to its junction (Roundabout) with the L5632 Narroways Road at Betaghstown, for a period of three weeks - from 8:00a.m. on Monday, 16th April, to 4:00p.m. on Friday, 4th May, 2018 inclusive.

This road closure is required to facilitate the replacement of a culvert under the Eastham Road as part of the Northlands flooding scheme.

The matter was raised at last week’s area council meeting with Cllr Eimear Ferguson asking what was going to happen with the school buses who use this route and how were children going to be facilitated.

Engineer Christy Clarke said that the OPW were doing the works and the culvert operation had to happen now. He said diversions will be put in place. ‘I know Matthews coaches use it too,’ he added.

Cllr Ferguson asked if the job could not be done during school holidays.
