Harty’s restoration complete
THE restoration of Harty’s Cottage on Crushrod Avenue has been completed after the walls were whitewashed at the weekend.
The building had been in a state of disrepair but grant assistance through Louth County Council shows what can be done to restore historic structures.
“Yes, I am so pleased I secured grant aid through Louth County Council under dangerous building provision for the total rethatching of the roof which I am delighted to confirm has been completed to a very high standard. Unfortunately no funds were made available for the necessary white washing of the cottage. For this purpose I allocated grant aid from my community allowance”, said Cllr Paul Bell.
Bell also confirmed that his efforts to restore the Thatch Cottage on Donore is progressing and that discussions are continuing.
