Louth keeper Stephen Hackett provided a steadying influence between the posts with some safe handling. And the St Fechins man enhanced his reputation throughout the second half with a number of superb saves to keep his side in contention.

Warwickshi­re restarted at a fast pace and hit back with the first three points to snatch the lead in what was a much more entertaini­ng second period. However Louth were back in front by the 45th minute following successive points from Arthur and when the Inagh Kilnamona club man hit his third points of the half it left Philip O’Brien’s side leading 1-9 to 0-10.
