Under-19s see red in heavy Donegal defeat

-

STEPHEN Doran’s 48th-minute sending-off put Drogheda United Under-19s on the back foot and they ultimately suffered a heavy defeat at Finn Park on Saturday.

The Boynesiders travelled without Leo Tang and Cian Quinn, who were both away playing in America, and had another player suspended.

However, the game started off with little between the teams and the Drogs created some good chances, with Michael Cregan and Jordan Adeayamo going close before Finn Harps took the lead on 25 minutes with a header from a corner.

Michael Cregan then went

close for the Drogs and the teams went in at half-time with Harps leading by a single goal.

However, Drogheda made a disastrous start to the second half when Doran conceded a penalty and received a red card for a last-man tackle and Harps scored from the spot.

In truth, the Drogs never recovered from that double whammy and Harps added two further goals before the finish.

Drogheda will have a chance to put this defeat behind them when they lost Longford Town this coming Saturday.
