Irish Doctors Choir to play at An Grianan

-

THE Irish Doctors Choir, Musical Director Brian McKay, come to An Grianán Co Louth on Saturday evening 14th April 2018 to stage a special performance of the Rachmaninov Vespers.

Their guest soloists will be Brazilian mezzo-soprano Juliana Mauger and former NI Opera Young Musician, Conor Breen, tenor.

This beautiful, mindful music is sung by unaccompanied voices, transporting the listener to the rich soulful serenity of Russia. The vespers were originally written for an all night vigil service, holding onto light through the darkness of the night.

Irish Doctors Choir are a group of doctors and medical students, from across the island of Ireland and beyond, who share a passion for music and singing.

They believe deeply in the healing and restoring power of music.

On this occasion they will be joined by the Ealta Quartet. Ealta are a doctors’ string quartet who will play some gorgeous short interludes during the performance.

They are all looking forward to a warm welcome at the famous An Grianán and they are delighted to donate proceeds of this event to the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.

Listoke have come on board and will sponsor the pre-concert reception. This is the first time the choir have performed in the south, having only formed September of last year to accompany the European Doctors Orchestra (EDO) who performed at the Ulster Hall, Belfast in November 2017.

Their Musical Director is Brian MacKay who worked for many years with the Opera Theatre Company and Wexford Festival Opera.

Tickets are available from the centre and are €20.00 each.
