TIDY TOWNS.

Busy times ahead for Mr. Wood’s 6th Class in St. Buites National School in Tenure. They are taking part in this years ECOTribes project. Run in conjunction with the The Heritage Council & Louth Tidy Towns Together, schools sign up to develop a project over a number of weeks with the help of their local Tidy Towns Group.

This years theme is “Pollinator Friendly Planting”. Eileen and Oonagh from Monasterboice Tourism and Tidy Towns Group recently visited the school with Nikita Coulter of the Heritage Council who gave a presentation on the importance of pollination and the benefits for us and the environment. You may remember last year Harestown N.S. won a Gold Medal for their ‘Celtic Garden’ project in Drumshallon Forge. It’s fantastic to see our local schools getting involved in such projects - Best of luck everyone!

The Annual Spring Clean Day takes place in the Monasterboice Community on Saturday April 21st from 10am-12.30pm. Come out and support Monasterboice Tourism & Tidy Towns Group, join your neighbours and friends. Meeting points include Monasterboice Inn Car Park, Valley Inn Car Park, Tenure Church and Harestown School. There will be refreshments and a raffle afterwards in Naomh Mairtin club for those taking part. Many hands make light work. For more information contact Pat Breen Litter Co-ordinator 087 2127082

D2K FOR ONE LAST TIME.

The phenomena that is The D2K will ride out of Dunleer on June 16th this year and the sad news that this will be it’s last outing.

The Charity Cycle, in aid of Motor Neuron Ireland and Paul’s Fight4Life started off as a one day spin to Kilkenny and, latterly to Ballinasloe in Galway and has become an event that, quite literally, had no equals. Last year, a whopping total of €80,000 was gathered and it’s hoped that this year’s figures will eclipse that.

I know for a fact that north of 40 people from Monasterboice peddled from east to west last year and it is hoped for similiar support this time.

It’s a very well run show and training for same will begin pretty imminently.

Entries are now being accepted and please go to The D2K website for more info.
