LOUTH County Council are to be asked to look into the planning details behind the all-weather playing pitch at Drogheda Institute of Further Education at The Twenties.

The superb new facility - which has been much in demand since its opening last year - is now the subject of ‘significant’ issues say local residents and they are reporting concerns in relation to noise levels, floodlighting and hours of operation.

Cllr Tommy Byrne has been asked to look into the matter and he’s keen to see a swift resolution to the issues raised.

‘It’s all about quality of life,’ he stated. ‘ The all weather pitch there is superb and much needed for the town and a lot of teams use it. But we have to get this sorted out.’

He has written to the council, asking for details about the conditions in relation to the pitch.

‘ There is serious concern about the noise level at the facility, the height of the lights, the height of fencing and the hours that the venue is in use. These are genuine concerns and must be addressed,’ he remarked.

‘Nobody wants to see this great facility closed, because it is fantastic, but we have to look at sorting out these issues.’
