An evening to savour the history of Ship Street
AN evening of nostalgia and determination to save Ship Street takes place on Thursday April 19 at 7.30pm in the d Hotel.
Community historian Brendan Matthews will introduce the evening, outlining the history of the place, made famous by the Helen Mirren film ‘Cal’ in 1984.
Cllr Frank Godfrey has organised the evening and wants it to be a celebration of the street.
‘It would be great for people to bring their memories of Ship Street, old family photographs and stories of the people who lived there down the years,’ he stated.
‘ The street is in need of repair and we hope by highlighting the story of the street, we can focus how best to save it for the future.’
All are welcome to attend on the night.
