Land sale vital for school extension

COUNCILLOR Paul Bell has confirmed that the next critical stage of the plan to expand Marymount National School is nearing with the elected members of Louth County Council due to vote on the sale of 0.302 acres of lands adjoining to the school at Highfield, Ballsgrove and Donore Road.

The sale value of land which is €40,000 and subject to securing planning permission within a twelve month period of Council approval.

“It is essential that the sale of the land be made available for the future developmen­t of this long establishe­d National School as demands grow for more and more children to secure school places both in the immediate and distant future.

‘Marymount School has served the communitie­s of Ballsgrove, Marian Park, St Finian’s Park and Rathmullan for many years and hopefully will continue to do so” said Bell

Confirming the date when Council will vote on the disposal Bell confirmed “The disposal of the lands will come before the elected members of Louth County Council on Monday 16th April and I intend to propose that the sale of the land subject to the conditions expressed in the Section 183 notice proceed.

‘ The planning process which is a separate independen­t matter will be the subject of consultati­on with the community and will involve considerat­ion for traffic management in the area of Ballsgrove and Donore Road”. Bell concluded
