Donore want to shine in the future tidy towns awards scheme

DONORE residents and visitors to Bru na Boinne are enjoying the recently in bloom daffodils and they hope that the SOLAS 21 garden initiative is but the beginning.

Mr Billy Flynn from Flynn Furney Environmen­tal Consultant­s has been engaged to present proposals in relation to Tidy Towns for Donore.

A public meeting for residents of Donore will take place on Wednesday 4th April at 8pm in the Community Hall Donore.

Over the past 60 years Tidy Towns have helped to improve living spaces and promoted community action to benefit locals and visitors. Billy has been involved with Tidy Towns as a judge so comes with an informed view and a keen eye to enhance local areas. Donore will hopefully benefit from his expertise and guidance.

Meath County Council have or are in process of completing some welcome improvemen­t works in the village. Residents look forward to the completion of the footpath from The Grange to Boyne Valley Cottage .Local farmers have trimed hedges or have promised to do so on approach roads .The cooperatio­n of Irish Cement and Roadstone is much appreciate­d, a spokespers­on added.

BOYLE’s of Slane will play host to an exciting visitor from the Big Apple as part of its ‘Purple Sessions’.

Deni Bonet is a New York City-based pop/rock singer/ songwriter and classicall­y trained violinist, who will appear in Boyle’s on Thursday, April 12th as part of a tour of Ireland.

Her brand new album, Bright Shiny Objects, has just been released on Zip Records/Sony-RED, and is already receiving incredible reviews from some of the most prestigiou­s music publicatio­ns with the Wall Street Journal describing her as “Sheryl Crow meets the B-52’s.

She began her career as a featured performer on the National Public Radio show, Mountain Stage before leaving to pursue a solo career.

Proving there’s more to the violin than concertos and hoedowns she has recorded and performed with luminaries such as Cyndi Lauper, REM, Indigo Girls, Warren Zevon and Ireland’s own Mundy among others. others, as well as performing her own music around the world.

Deni Bonet has earned a reputation for high-energy performanc­es and particular­ly for her dynamic violin playing. She’s performed around the world with particular highlights being gigs at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, the Great Wall of China and the White House for President Obama.
