GARDAI in Drogheda are investigating a number of attempted burglaries in Drogheda over the past week.

Thieves tried to break into the Aldi store in Mell sometime between 12.30am and 2am on Tuesday April 3rd. Damage was caused to the doors while trying to gain entry, however the alarm was triggered, and they escaped empty handed.

The alarm was also raised the following night when a side window was smashed at the North Road Pharmacy. Nothing was taken in the break-in.

A safe was removed from Top Gear car wash on the North Road the same night, when robbers entered the premises through a side door between 2am and 3am. The garage was ransacked and the safe was stolen, although it is not yet known what it contained.

Finally, a house in the Marsh Road was also broken into in the early hours of last Friday morning. Entry was gained through the front door, and a small sum of money was taken, along with some electronic equipment.
