A man who said someone else gave his name when they were stopped by gardaí has nonetheless been disqualified from driving for six years for having no insurance at Windmill Road on 5 October, 2016.

Joseph Ryan (35), Cedarfield, Drogheda, who is also charged with failing to produce insurance and a driving licence on the same occasion, had his case adjourned to 6 July next for probation and community service reports.

Barrister Irene Sands said her client maintains his name was given by another man.

However, the judge convicted him.

Ryan has 31 previous convictions, of which 17 are for road traffic matters, including two for no insurance.
