Pay parking went from 20p to 40p in 1998!
THERE was outrange in Drogheda 20 years ago with pay parking - what has changed!
But back then the prices were a little different.
Motorists were facing a 100% hike in prices, moving from 20p and hour to 40p an hour.
According to then Drogheda Town Clerk, Brendan Hoey, a number of changes were recommended in relation to disk parking in the Drogheda Traffic Report, presented in January 1996.
One of the recommendations was that the charge per disc be increased to 50p, and the residents’ disc be increased to £50 a year.
Considering the recommendations at a meeting councillors decided that the price per disc be increased to 40p.
