Mitchels skip over the ‘Hill

JOHN MITCHELS DOWDALLSHILL 1-18 1-4

A STRONG second half showing helped Mitchels take the points in this Division 3 League fixture against Dowdallshill at St Brigid’s Park.

The home side played with the advantage of the wind in the first half but they struggled from the outset to take a grip on this game and it was the Mitchels who had the better of things throughout.

A goal from Trevor Matthews helped the visitors to lead by 1-4 to 1-2 at the break with Kevin Kirk hitting the back of the net to keep Dowdallshill in touch.

As the Ballybailie side upped the pace in the second half the wheels came off for the Hill and with Matthews, Kevin Gallagher, Robbie Coyle and Diarmuid Durnin on target, the Mitchels eased to victory. Overall it was a great team effort with Mitchell and Connell Keenan leading by example throughout.

To add further to the woes for Dowdallshill, injuries to Gerard McShane and David McCrave, make them doubtful for next week’s clash against neighbours Young Irelands.
