DUNDALK GAELS

OUR seniors got off to a winning start in the Cardinal O’Donnell Cup on Sunday last, beating St Bride’s in trying conditions at Knockbridg­e. Leading by four points at the break, we had some serious defending to do to hold out for a 0-11 to 0-8 win.

This weekend’s game in the same competitio­n is against St Mary’s.

The lotto jackpot is mounting, up to €12,100 for tonight’s draw. Tickets can be bought at Grant’s Newsagents, Dublin Street, at €2 each. If you’re not in you can’t win.

IN last week’s Division 2 FL match it finished Glen Emmets 0-8 St Mochta’s 1-12. Next Sunday we play Naomh Fionnbarra at 3pm in John Markey Park.

Well done to all who took part in our 5k Fun Run on Sunday, such a positive day for the parish.

Glen Emmets have linked up with AMS to offer cardiac screening sessions for players, members and all in the wider community. We would encourage as many as possible to attend.

The cost of this screening is €65 per person, which is fully or partially redeemable, depending on your health insurance provider.

There is no financial benefit to the club, we are facilitati­ng the venue for the screening.

WELL done to our mens team who beat Glyde Rangers on Sunday. Final score was 3-10 to 0-05. Next up is Oliver Plunketts on Sunday 15th in Páirc Baile Coach at 3pm.

Our U 14 boys and girls teams will participat­e in Féile Peile Na nÓg competitio­n on June 29th, 30th and July 1st. Host families are still needed to provide accommodat­ion for teams travelling to the competitio­n, you do not need to have a child involved in the Féile to provide accommodat­ion, if you can help out in any way please contact Anne-Marie Martin.

Hunterstow­n Rovers will be hosting I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here in the Ardee Parish Centre on Saturday 26th May. If you would like to take part please contact Dessie Levins or Anita Halpenny.

Juvenile Registrati­on was held in our clubrooms recently and it was brilliant to see such a great turnout. We provide football for all ages from our Nursery Programme, U-7, U-8, U-9, U-10 upwards to Minor and of course Senior.

John Mitchel’s Juveniles are holding their Flag Day this Saturday in Ardee. We would ask you to support our collectors as all monies raised go back into our club and Juvenile activities.

Our senior men’s team are training hard and had a good win in the Division 3 League against Dowdallshi­ll on Sunday. They are out again in the league against St Kevin’s this coming Sunday at home at 3pm - all support welcome.

KNOCKBRIDG­E

OUTDOOR training commences this Friday in the Brides field at 5.30 p.m. for all U.6, U.8 and U.10 hurlers. New members are very welcome to come along. Our U.12 training is this coming Thursday in the Brides from 6 to 7 p.m.

Last Thursday we hosted Naomh Moninne in the first round of the U.12 league. Despite the cold conditions both teams played some good hurling with some very well taken scores on view. Knockbridg­e were ahead 2-1 to 0-1 at half time before running out 3-5 to 1-3 winners. Donal McArdle top scored with 2-0, Kevin Plunkett weighed in with 1-1 while Michael Kirby slotted over 4 points. Good performanc­es were had by Nicky Brennan, Eoin Gallagher, Aidan Fitzpatric­k, Jack Smyth, Ryan Holland, Paidi and Cormac Corcoran, Callum O Connor,Tadhg Fitzgerald and Darragh Kenny

Our Seniors play St.Fechins in the final round of the special hurling league this Saturday with our place in the final already assured.

Many thanks to all club members who helped out in the recent bagpack held in Dunnes Stores. Thanks also to the generosity of the public who supported us on the day.

THE club would like to congratula­te Diarmuid Nash/Colin Crehan from Clare on their fantastic 14-21,21-14,21-3 win over Paul Brady/Michael Finnegan from Cavan in the All-Ireland senior doubles final at Kingscourt handball club Last Saturday. Well done to young sharpshoot­er Cian Byrne who managed to defeat all challenger­s to win our juvenile Top Ace score competitio­n with a fine top score of 13 aces. We are hoping to conduct a GAA Handball foundation level coaching course at the club any club players, members, supporters wishing to take part can contact any committee member. Our 60x30 softball training will begin at Kingscourt handball club on Monday 16th April at 7pm. Juvenile 40x20 coaching will continue at Gormanston sports complex every Tuesday transport as usual departs the Pheasant car park at 6pm. Well done to club man J Kelly who was appointed by GAA Handball CCC to officiate in two All- Ireland mens doubles final matches at Kingscourt last week. Our promotiona­l handball demonstrat­ion day will take place at St Marys Diocesan school on Sunday 29th April at 2pm. Come along enjoy all the fun and action with the stars of GAA Handball. Martina Mc Mahon, Meghan Mc Cann, Sean Kerr, David Hope, will perform and demonstrat­e the skills of handball. After last weekends National League Final action, and wins for Dublin by 4 points, Roscommon by 4 points, Armagh by 2 points and Laois by 4 points, the winner of this years Naomh Fionnbarra last man standing is, Sarah McCabe from the John Mitchell’s club (entry sold by Hugh Mcgrane). Sarah predicted all 4 winning teams correctly and she predicted winning margins of Dublin by 6 points, Roscommon by 4 points, Armagh by 3 points and Laois by 4 points, meaning her score difference was just 3 away from being 100% correct. Sarah will receive €200, congratula­tions to her. In 2nd place was Liz hullen who also predicted the 4 correct winners. Liz predicted winning margins of Dublin by 4 points, Roscommon by 2 points, Armagh by 2 points and Laois by 2 points, meaning her scored difference was 4. Liz will receive €100.
