Duleek responders bring in €2,700 boost

- BY MICHAEL DOWLING

DULEEK Cardiac First Responders held a successful quiz night at Carranstown Lodge in Duleek recently to raise money for their services..

There was a big turnout with 17 tables taking part in the table quiz and entering the Easter Raffle and €2,700 was raised.

The money will be used to provide ongoing training for Duleek CFR volunteers, including teaching CPR.

They will also be running a Family & Friends course in the near future, which includes adult and child CPR with breaths, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. The course is open to everyone who has an interest in learning these important skills.

“The Family & Friends course is great because we can teach the livesaving skills to 20-30 people in an hour and a half, and they only have to come one time”, said Pauline Durkin, group co-ordinator for Duleek CFR.

There are 18 volunteers in Duleek’s CFR and they provide early assistance for those suffering with a cardiac emergency before an ambulance arrives. They work in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation and the Ambulance Service.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer with Duleek CFR can ring Pauline Durkin at 087 6390495, or email duleekcfr@gmail.com.
