WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

Applicatio­n forms are available, in the star of the sea church Mornington, to fill in if one would like to attend the world meeting of families.

One needs to fill in a registrati­on form to get a ticket(s). Tickets are €40 each.

This excludes the bus fare. Families can attend the Meath diocesan day on August 22nd (2018); also, the festival of families in Croke Park on August 25th and final Mass in the Phoenix Park on August 26th.

Forms are available in the church. Tickets are subject to availabili­ty.

ALZHEIMERS GOLF CLASSIC

This classic will take place on Laytown & Bettystown golf course on Friday May 18th.

The entrance fee per four-person team is €160.00 Tee times before 11 am includes free breakfast. Registrati­on is now available with Veronica Reilly at 086 6025043

The Drogheda Alzheimers branch are in the midst of an intensive fund-raising drive to help provide a new day care centre for the town.

A full-time sheet will lessen the burden on these very committed people.

CONCERNS EXPRESSED AT TREE FELLING AT REILIG MHUIRE

Concern has been expressed at the event and adverse impact, aesthetica­lly and environmen­tally, of the tree feeling program which commenced two weeks ago.

The special atmosphere and character of this lovely peaceful graveyard has been changed forever.

The work is ongoing and visitors to their family/ friends graves are very concerned as many remaining trees have painted circles on them which does not augur well for the future.

THE LATE TOM TALLON

Tom Tallon of Norwind Colpe passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31st in the Mater private hospital.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Siobhan, sons Richard and David, brother, sisters in law, nephews, relatives and friends; sincere condolence­s are extended to Tom’s family and friends on their sad loss. ay Tom rest in peace

MORNINGTON SENIOR CITIZENS COMMITTEE

One Hundred and Twenty local senior citizens attended the 25th annual party in the Glenside hotel on Sunday, March 25th.

After a lovely four course meal, Joanne Kiernan entertaine­d all present with a sing-along before the starlight band took to the stage for dancing for the next two hours.

Sarah O’Hagan the chairperso­n thanked those who had made the function such a great success and all who contribute­d over the last 25 years. She expressly thanked the management and staff of the Glenside hotel, McCloskey’s bakery, and Maher’s photograph­ic who have supported the committee over the years.

Tommy Weir was an excellent M.C on the night and the occasion was marked with a special 25th-anniversar­y cake. A special presentati­on was made to Emily Taaffe, a founder member whose original idea it was, and she called the first meeting of the committee.

MEMORIAL MATCH FOR MAX

LEE Conroy and Laytown United, along with Max Mason’s family’s permission have organized a memorial football match in Max’s name on 14th April at 2:00 in seafield, Laytown.

The match will be Laytown united squad of 20102018 versus Donacarney Celtic squad of 2016. These two rival teams played against each other a number of times over the years but both teams are now split up. Both sets of players are coming together for the day to play against each other for one more time to honour Max’s memory in a benefit match.

The organisers would like to thank everyone involved on the day, people that have helped organize the event, the players, and both clubs. There will, be raffles, bake sale and more. If anyone would like to contribute to raffle, bake sale ETC contact Lee on 0830468462,

Proceeds will go to a charity close to Max and his mum, Tracy’s, heart.
