Spring clean in Julianstow­n

JULIANSTOW­N & District Community Associatio­n are organising the Annual Spring Clean on Saturday 21st April, 2018. Starting 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meet at Whitecross National School. Bags, Gloves, Litter Pickers and High Vis Jackets supplied. Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear

Many thanks to Meath County Council who are supplying the skip and equipment. This is a great opportunit­y to get Julianstow­n’s roads and back roads cleaned.

Fill the bags, leave them at side of road and they will be picked up. Please tell your friends and neighbours and encourage them to come along. Tea/Coffee and chat afterwards.

Lime Kiln wins again

The first of four regional finals in this year’s Irish Restaurant Awards took place in the Knightsbro­ok Hotel, Trim, on Wednesday March 7, where 165 awards were presented to the country’s leading chefs, restaurant­s and pubs. Over 550 people attended the Leinster Regional Final where the top establishm­ents in each county were named. The Lime Kiln Julianstow­n win Best Gastro Pub in Meath.

White Cross welcomes Spanish teachers

Four Spanish teachers have joined Whitecross for a 3 month internship until the beginning of May. Marta and Amaia will be working with the infant classes and Julen and Ane will be working with classes between 1st and 6th. It will be an opportunit­y for pupils and teachers to pick up a little Spanish, learn a little about Spain and also these teachers will provide valuable support and help in the classrooms.

The students themselves have completed 4 years at the University of Navarre which is located in Pamplona, Spain. The internship is their last assignment on their qualificat­ion process.

Julianstow­n Badminton

Badminton takes place each Tuesday evening at 7.45 pm new members 18yrs + always welcome. Insurance for the year is a mere €30 and is due now. All standards welcome.

Duleek Walk and Talk

Duleek Walk & Talk will continue for the month of April, meeting at the Village Green at 10am each & every Saturday. All Welcome.

Annual meeting

The Julianstow­n & District Community Associatio­n will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 24th April in the Church of Ireland Parish Rooms at 8 p.m. All welcome to attend.

Real McCoy

The Donore & Rosnaree Drama Group have very kindly and generously dedicated one of their nights for their fabulous and famous drama “It’s The Real McCoy to Drogheda’s Oncology Unit.

This play, set in rural Ireland in 1964, takes place in the kitchen of Madge Molloy who has lived over 40 years of her life wondering why her husband Tom vanished within five months of their marriage.

Madge has had to rear her only daughter Maura on her own and needless to say she has become bitter about men in general!”

The show runs on April 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14th at 8pm. Admission is €12.
