MURDER will be on the menu at a thrilling new play exclusive to the Drogheda Arts Festival 2018.
‘A Midsummer Night’s Murder’ is written by Niall O’Brien and Colm McArdle of Catastrophe Theatre Company and will be directed by Paul Hayes CEO of Tain Centre, Dundalk.
It is an interactive murder mystery event to entertain and enthral. The tale begins with one of the nation’s most powerful men inviting the great and the good to a midsummer night’s feast.
The audience will enjoy a delightful three course meal featuring wonderful local produce … but beware, as director Paul Hayes explains, murder and revenge will also be key ingredients of the night!
‘ This is an absolutely entertaining play, which is superbly written, with funny lines, great characters and lots of red herrings,’ he says.
‘It’s not like a murder mystery evening, where the audience dresses up, but rather is a play in three acts, with the action taking place in between courses. Guests will be able to figure out ‘whodunnit’ in the end, with lots of fun along the way.’
The play was originally devised for Christmas, and sold out nights in Tallaght and Sligo, but this is the first trip to Drogheda in the new guise.
‘It’s a very Louth-based show, and an Grianan was a great find for the location, as with the long driveway and grand rooms, guests will get a real vibe for the show,’ adds Paul.
‘It is set at a posh awards ceremony in the 1950s, and even though we say it’s not fancy dress, I imagine a few of the guests will want to dress up for the occasion.’
The event can cater for up to 100 guests, and it’s for one night only, so demand for tickets is expected to be high.
Tickets for the event, which will be held in An Grianan, Termonfeckin, Co Louth on Friday May 4th are priced at €49.00, which includes a three-course dinner or €54 including transport from Drogheda.
