Over €8,000 secured for works at St Columba’s church at Colpe

A total of €133,342 in funding has been allocated locally to support local heritage projects, Cllr Fergus O’Dowd has said.

The funding was announced by Minister for Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan, under the 2018 Structures at Risk Fund and the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2018.

Deputy O’Dowd said: “New funding totalling €125k has been granted to County Louth and also €8,342 for the St Columba’s former Church of Ireland building in Colpe.

Rathescar House, Rathescar, Dunleer, is to get €20,000 for roof repairs. Carston House will get €5,000 to safeguard Armorial Plaques.

Roof repairs to the tune of €20,000 will also be given to 74-76 West Street.

Separately, local heritage projects will receive €58,342 through the Built Heritage Investment Scheme. The local projects to benefit from this Scheme include The Thatch (€10,000), Beaulieu House (€10k), Highlanes gallery (€10k).
