Join the Gaelic4Girls taking GAA by storm!

-

GAELIC4GIRLS has hit Drogheda by storm, with 45 girls from Drogheda and the surrounding areas descending onto Wolfe Tones GFC to be treated to one hour of great fun and coaching in Ladies Gaelic Football.

This programme continues for another seven weeks every Wednesday from 7pm-8pm in Wolfe Tones GFC Drogheda.

‘It is fantastic to see so many enthusiastic girls, who have little Gaelic Football experience enjoying themselves.,’ says Stephanie Leonard, who is coordinating the programme.

‘It is open to girls aged 8-12yrs who are not part of a Ladies Gaelic Football Club and who are interested in learning the skills of the game.’

Wolfe Tones GFC is one of only two clubs in the region that have been selected to take part in Gaelic4girls, St Fechin’s being the other.

The aim of the programme is to increase the numbers of girls playing Ladies Gaelic football in a club, to provide a fun, 12 week programme of Ladies Gaelic Football activities to attract girls aged 8-12 to the club, to support a club in increasing their number of players, and integrate those new players into existing teams, and to develop athletic and social skills for girls in a safe and nurturing environment

All girls from Drogheda and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend and learn the skills of Ladies Gaelic Football from enthusiastic coaches.

The players will be taught the basic skills of Gaelic football on a fun basis and will get to demonstrate their new skills at a fun mini-blitz.

All girls will be presented with a Gaelic4Girls t-shirt and certificate. A major bonus from the programme is that all participants will get the chance to participate in a Mini Blitz with another Gaelic4Girls site after the county blitz. The cost for the entire programme is only €10.
