Latest graffiti has undone great work carried out by volunteers

-

LAST year, on quite a few weekend mornings, I came across a small crew of volunteers, all primed with cleaning materials, and intend on tidying the towns.

They began the process of cleaning graffiti from walls and buildings all over town.

I met them on Fair Street and they could have been deadringers for the Ghostbusters - true professionals.

But they scrubbed and cleaned all over the place and did a wonderful job.

However, in recent times, I have noticed that much of their industry has been tarnished.

The Highlanes steps have been targeted again by graffiti, in particular.

There are many ways to tackle issues like this but surely the prime one is CCTV and catching those who carry out these acts.

They shouldn’t be fined, or detained or whatever.

Simply, place a mop and scrubbing brush in one hand and a bucket in the other and a nice cleaning job will result after a lot of effort.
