Which way to King William’s Glen?

-

A question - what is wrong with this signpost at the corner of Georges Street and Trinity Street?

Well, simply, if you followed the information for King William’s Glen, you’d be a long time finding it.

The sign was pointing northwards for some time - but thankfully - last week - it was turned in the right direction. (must have known the picture right was coming!) .

This is probably a good example of what the next few months needs to happen around Drogheda.

The days are counting down for the Fleadh and we will have hundreds of thousands of visitors in the town - with no idea where the Collon Road is, how to get to the train station, bus station, McDonnell’s shop in Hardman’s Gardens, Joe’s chipper in Yellowbatter, John’s shop on the Platin Road, the Saturday morning market, basically - we have to address every sign and junction in the area.

While the sign post across the road from this one at the turn onto Narrow West Street contains plenty of information - it has so many pointers on it, you can’t see them!

I believe the council are do- ing an inventory of the streets that require road markings, but I think they should bring in two engineers - who know nothing about the town - and get them to walk the place and come back with some obvious questions that we miss on a daily basis.
